How to play Wololo Kingdoms in Voobly?
Note: You only need to have your own 1997 Game Copy or HD from Steam!
First of all. You will find a couple of buttons on the left, Buy HD in Steam... Download Voobly... and Play now... The first one redirects you to Steam website, where you can buy the High Definition game, buy it only if you dont have your own CD copy saved into your files. The second one, will download Voobly client for you, you can create an account in Voobly website, otherwise if you already have one, just download the client and install it. The third one, will open the Voobly pre-lobby website for Medieval Siege, this website requires you to be logged in, so be sure to have an account! Once in, you will see the button OPEN THE LOBBY. Clicking on it, the browser will ask you to open Voobly, and you will be able to download all the game patches, with technical support if needed.
Second, What is WK? Wololo Kingdoms, contains all the expansions that exist for AOE II HD(1997 version supported by Voobly developers). That means this pack contains: The Conquerors, Forgotten Empires, African Kingdoms, Rise of the Rajas. That means you can play all those expansions in Voobly by free, you only need to have original game(1997) or HD version and connect to Voobly to play under 1.5 Game Data Mod.(Check Link #7)
The purpose of this tutorial is to let you, know how to play DE in Voobly. For that, you can click on Play Now button. Then it will open Voobly website, make sure you're logged into Voobly, otherwise log in and click button open the lobby... Then it will ask you that the browser is trying to open Voobly, click open, and wait for Voobly to open. Once Voobly is open, please enter your username and password (This is the Client). Once you're logged in, you will see the game browser, double click on Medieval Siege, then if you have a fresh installation of the game, it will start to install all game patches required by Voobly(Voobly will restart 5-7 times before ready to play), otherwise, you can play directly, just open one room and then wait for the host to launch the game. You can chat in the room, as also chat in the lobby while waiting for the game. When you join a room, make sure the Game Patch is 1.5 and Game Mod is 1.5 Game Data. When the host decide to launch the game, your game will be open and get to the multiplayer screen waiting to select a civ... From now you know what to do.
Hotkeys? Well, there are so many Troubleshot guides... I recommend the one made by Pancrol, you can click on the first link at the left of the page. It will guide you how to set up your hotkeys. There also some other hotkeys compatible, all that you need to do is to copy your own hotkeys from your desired mod and paste them into your 1.6 Game Data folder, or you can use one of the voobly mods (check links at left: 2, 3, or 4) that will allow you to use personalized hotkeys. There's also a Troubleshot thread on voobly forums(5) where you can check how to start single player menu and configure your own hotkeys.
Lastly but not less important, please configure your Antivirus software. It's highly recommended to set up Windows Defender to allow all connections on Voobly and AOE II. You will find more information about this in the link #6
